The Essential Skills1 hour course – 1 PDC – $30.

The how and why of teaching the action-based skills and knowledge of emotional intelligence. Memes, general advice, mindfulness, and communications templates all assist emotional intelligence but practicing the core skills cuts to the root and creates powerful results.

  • Emotional Self-Awareness – 15 minutes

The ability to notice and precisely identify feelings that may enhance or hinder performance in-the-moment, and take appropriate action to realign emotions with values, tasks, and goals. Use of this skill results in increased authenticity, self-leadership, and focus. When individuals take this level of responsibility it greatly reduces Employee Relations Issues.

Take-away: Introduction to practices that deliver results.

  • Emotional Knowledge – 15 minutes

Knowing how emotions change, blend, and cluster strongly develops interpersonal insight. Simply increasing your emotional vocabulary increases cognitive intelligence and social skills. Recognizing the neurological impact of our words aids emotional self-management and clarifies communication. Understanding Emotional Hazards helps bolster mental health and social savvy. These points of knowledge build the bridge to Social/Cultural Intelligence.

Take away: Hand-outs to build knowledge and use to ask great questions for driving curiosity in misunderstanding and conflict.

  • The Vital Skill of Emotional Management (Regulation) – 15 minutes

We all learned habits of regulating our emotions at home, growing up. Some of these habitual strategies work well for us, some don’t. Increased emotional self-awareness gives us the opportunity to make intelligent emotional management choices to match an emotion’s intensity and the specific circumstances. These combined skills are the power source of Emotional Intelligence. Self-empathy enables empathy which serves as a great regulator. The conscious use of these skills produces stronger Employee Engagement, higher Productivity, and exceptional Customer Experience.

  • Emotional Expression – Applied Emotional Knowledge – 15 minutes

How emotional intelligence is demonstrated through communication and relationship. When human connection is genuine and emotionally connected it grounds technique and overcomes manipulation, teamwork strengthens. Strategizing for the emotional impact of important communications, decisions, and changes gets people on board. Generating emotions and moods to match activities and tasks empowers both Individual Contributor and Management/Leadership Effectiveness.
